Alacranes Reef is the largest and most important reef in the Gulf of Mexico and the only one in Yucatán. This National Park and Biosphere Reserve, made up of five islets, lies about 100 km north of Progreso, a remote paradise for adventurous divers.

- Turtles, rays and sharks – in crystal-clear, remote waters.
- Isla Pérez and its lighthouse – with a 19th-century shipwreck history.
Why it is special
Its remoteness keeps it pristine: a gem for adventure diving, with exceptional biodiversity. Diving season runs from April to September.
