How to Get from Cancun Airport to Your Hotel: Options and Transfers

Cancun Bay Tours July 15, 2026 cancun-airport-transfers-to-your-hotel 6 min read

From your flight to your hotel, hassle-free

After a long flight, the last thing you want is to worry about how to get to your hotel. Cancun International Airport is well connected to the Hotel Zone, the Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen, and there are options for every type of traveler and budget. Here we compare them.

Approximate travel times

From the airport, the trip to Cancun's Hotel Zone takes between 20 and 30 minutes. To Playa del Carmen, around 45 to 60 minutes, and to Tulum, roughly an hour and a half to two hours, depending on traffic and the exact location of your hotel.

Transfer options

Private transfer: the most convenient option. A driver waits for you with your name and takes you straight to your hotel, with no stops or waiting. Ideal if you travel as a family, with luggage or want to arrive quickly and rested.

Shared shuttle: cheaper than a private transfer. You share the van with other passengers and there are several stops, so it takes longer.

ADO bus: very affordable and reliable, with departures to Cancun's downtown station and to Playa del Carmen. You will then need a taxi to your hotel.

Taxi: available at the exit, but usually more expensive and with variable fares. Confirm the price before getting in.

Tips for your arrival

  • Book your transfer in advance to avoid lines and overcharging.
  • Have the exact address of your hotel on hand.
  • Bring some cash in pesos for tips or unexpected costs.
  • Be wary of anyone offering "transportation" inside the terminal without identification.
