What makes it unique
Tulum was a walled Mayan port and ceremonial center, at its height between the 13th and 15th centuries. Its main building, El Castillo, stands on a cliff about 12 meters high, with one of the coast's prettiest beaches at its foot. Do not miss the Temple of the Frescoes, with preserved paintings, and the Temple of the Descending God.

No. For preservation you can't climb Tulum's structures.

A big draw: below El Castillo there is a cove where you can go down for a swim, subject to site rules. Wear your swimsuit underneath.
Where it is and how to get there
Tulum is about 120 km from Cancun, an hour and a half to two hours, and very close to the Riviera Maya. It pairs perfectly with Coba and a freshwater cenote.
