Kabah Archaeological Site: the Palace of the Masks

Cancun Bay Tours July 15, 2026 kabah-archaeological-site 5 min read

Kabah is the second most important city on the Puuc Route after Uxmal, to which it was connected by a sacbe and a monumental arch. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its Puuc architecture is simply spectacular.

What to see

  • Codz Poop (Palace of the Masks) – its facade is covered with about 250 masks of the rain god Chaac, unique in the Maya world.
  • The Arch of Kabah – a monumental gateway marking the start of the sacbe to Uxmal.
  • The Palace and several Puuc structures.

Why it is special

The overwhelming mask facade of the Codz Poop is one of the most striking images of Maya art. It pairs perfectly with Uxmal.

How to visit

It is about 23 km from Uxmal, on the Puuc Route. Book your tour with Cancun Bay Tours.
