Oxtankah was the most important Maya city on Chetumal Bay. Its structures, built between the 4th and 6th centuries and modified into the 16th, cluster around two plazas: the Bees Plaza and the Columns Plaza, surrounded by greenery.
What to see
- Bees Plaza and Columns Plaza – the heart of the site.
- Spanish chapel – remains of a chapel attributed to Alonso de Ávila (1531), a testament to the meeting of two worlds.
